DISCOGRAPHY and Sessions

1980: “Kent Rocks” This was a small run of 500 copies. Pretty rare vinyl these days. A simple compilation of several artists from Southeast Greater London I produced the album as well as supplying one rather primitive Moog synth track called ‘My Song’ which I wrote & recorded some time before. Worth missing. (got a good write up in the local rag though).

1984: “A Band Called Arthur” (private distribution only). Didn’t try for a deal on this one. My early attempts at producing with an 8-track Tascam studio. (you know – great BIG reels of tape.)
|
Just a few friends having gigs together and a lot of fun that year. (with Geoff Hills, Jon, Guy Hardy and others).

1984: Various sessions for BBC Radio folk and acoustic programs, under my own name. (no releases though).

1986: “No Surrender” by The Groundhogs (Live album, HTD Records).
|
I wasn’t on this one, but I did produce it, with help from Guy Hardy. Our mix wasn’t used till many years later.

1990: More sessions for BBC Radio from my band of the time, Only Kidding. (with good friend Geoff Hills again).

1997: “18 Incidents” (privately produced CD of Ambient and soundtrack-influenced incidental pieces). Later released a few of these with Redhand. I really enjoy doing soundtracks. Occasionally these pieces have been used in theatres.

1997: “Amberdelic Space II: Angel Of Ecstasy” (originally released by DTK Records). Another Compilation. Still available from the usual .com sites. This time I worked with friend and colleague Ben Reeve, as Greenlight . We had about half-an-hour to ourselves on this CD set of mainly Trance genre. Our track titles are: L7 ; Tsunami and Undertoe. (Virgin’s dance album of the week in those days)
|
8 1998: “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Plankton” by The High Kings Of Tara.
(that’s Myself & Ben Reeve again). (mostly written together) (all original)
This one took quite a while to complete. Mainly held up by Sample clearance.
Eventually I dumped the original mixes and reworked the whole thing. It was released
by Minority One records. (This one was in Virgin for quite a while.)
The genre we used here was mainly Hard House & Industrial. All in all this was a heavy
and relentless album. Not for the fainthearted, though the track Big Mouse was played
by John Peel on Radio One.
Tracklist:
1. Fanfare 7321
2. Birthwork Death
3. Big Mouse
4. Scanners
5. Cargo Cult
6. Mars Is Heaven
7. Akaba In Green Light
8. Dressed To Kill

A review:
Music Review: Bust Outta Speakers Shock!
Rating: 5 Stars
Whether you choose to call this Electronica, Hard House or Metal, this album seems to have it all.
My ears haven't stopped ringing, but apart from the health hazard, this mysteriously unknown band
seems to be england's best kept secret. "Scanners" is the track that really got me. Relentless Retro
and wailing guitar riff, weird vocal and amazing beats. "Akaba" is far more delicate, with a trance-like
female vocal and dreamy, Middle-Eastern finger bells. Stranger still is "mars Is Heaven" with an alien-style
appearance from the famed Gary Numan! Amazingly loud and hugely Industrial.
I think this has to be the most under-represented album I've heard. Why is it not better-known?
9 2000: Lots of unreleased stuff, but 2 releases of note:
“No Surrender” (original mix, restored) by The Groundhogs (HTD Records) (original
release, 1986).
10 “Bob’s Different Disguises” by Redhand.
I thought I’d release this one through Peoplesound.com. Hastily put together and a very
odd collection, listening to it now.
Paul T (DnB DJ) and myself, experimenting in different styles as usual. Old stuff too,
from “18 Incidents” is found here. Just a really fun album. … Relax…and play…
Tracklist:

This pretty album shows off Geoff’s acoustic as well as writing skills. I’m guesting as
Bassist on ‘5001st Dream’, ‘Melina’ and ‘With Thoughts Of You’ and we co-wrote
‘Flying Tonight’.

13 2006: (currently working on material to be available from this website and other
places. – That’s code for Haven’t-A-Clue-where-yet). Look out for 2 forthcoming
albums. One from Deep Blue Sky. (Good ole’ retro-rock project, with a very deep
female vocal from Sony (that’s her name, not the PS3 people).
